With the One who rescues, restores, and renews.

Side-by-Side in the Lord

Hi, I’m Kïrsten—a believer in Jesus, wife, mom, friend, and fellow sojourner learning to love God and others more deeply each day.

Over the years, life has taken me from cornfields in Iowa to mission stations across Europe and West Africa. I’ve served as a legal assistant, directed a crisis pregnancy center, co-founded a church-based crisis care ministry, detasseled corn, waited tables—and learned many valuable lessons in each role. These experiences have shaped and refined me, always pointing back to the goodness of God.

Conversations that begin with God’s Word have always stirred my heart. Whether through women’s Bible studies, personal devotions, or the joy of memorizing Scripture, I’ve seen firsthand the transforming power of truth. The Bible isn’t just ink on a page; it’s the voice of the One who rescues, restores, and renews.

The quieter joys of life—poetry, music, family, a good book, a surprising math problem—have a place here too. This blog is where those interests come together, woven with reflections on faith, story, beauty, and the everyday moments that whisper God’s presence.

In my counseling work, I serve as a biblical counselor, holding three certificates from the Christian Counseling and Education Foundation (CCEF). My academic background includes a BA in Christian Theology from Seattle Pacific University (with most of my coursework in Religion and Philosophy at Presbyterian College). I’m also a Level 2 Certified Christian Trauma Care Provider and a member of the Association of Biblical Counselors.

My writing flows from my study of the word of God and his people.  My hope is that you’ll find encouragement here—hope for your soul, light for your path, and reminders that you are not alone. This is a place where the gospel breathes life into the everyday, and where our shared questions and longings can find their answer in Christ.

One verse that continues to shape and sustain me is Psalm 130:7:

O Israel, hope in the Lord!
For with the Lord there is steadfast love,
and with him is plentiful redemption.

The truest thing I know about God is that he is a redeemer!

Thank you for stopping by.

I’m so glad our paths have crossed. ⚓️
