New Growth Press: Exploring the Church’s Response to Domestic Abuse

Domestic abuse is far more common than most of us want to admit, and the church is often unsure how to respond. In this article for New Growth Press, I explore how God’s people can walk alongside the vulnerable with clarity, steadiness, and compassion. It’s an invitation for leaders and helpers to consider not only what we believe, but how we embody that belief in the lives of those who suffer.

“A church becomes a refuge for the vulnerable when it chooses humility—when it listens to the wounded, seeks understanding, and responds with a steady, informed faith.”

These themes continue to shape my work with victims, counselors, and churches. When we slow down long enough to see the person in front of us, we begin to understand the weight they carry—and the hope God provides. My prayer is that this article encourages deeper wisdom, gentler responses, and a renewed commitment to protect those who have been harmed.
